The best hand to start with when you play Blackjack is Blackjack or 21. This is made up of an ace and one of the 10-value cards, such as the king, queen, jack or 10. The only way the dealer will win if you have a Hard 20 is if they have 21 drawn through a number of different combinations.

Some people will be tempted to split the 10s of a Hard 20 but this can be a mistake. If you did this, you would be risking double the amount even though a Hard 20 already offers you a success rate of almost 80%.

Beating the dealer when you play blackjack online

Understanding how your cards will play against the dealers is also key to success when playing Blackjack online. In the case of a Hard 20, for example, you need to know how the dealer’s up card can influence their chance of success. Your win is likely to be most at risk if the dealer’s up card is in the two to six range. This will mean that they will draw a minimum of two cards and be able to climb to the magical 21.

Other good hands when you play online Blackjack are cards which combine to make 10 or 11. This is because you are able to double down your bet. Just be careful of doubling down if you have 10 and the dealer also has a 10. In this case, they are just as likely to make 20 as you are.

Does Blackjack beat 5 card trick?
